Promise Myself

Written by: Victor Swift

It was too complicated,
I cut it off before it sank into my skin
I was too irritated,
To stick around and let the pointless mind games win

Judge all you want to,
I’ll only thank you
You’re stopping me from making the same mistake again
I have learned my lesson now,
I take a vow, cause I know how
To never ever endure that clever endeavor again
Mark my words, I promise me

I said I wouldn’t do it again, what the hell was that, I just did it again
Oh no, what’s wrong with me, check my head I think I’m going crazy
I said I wouldn’t do it again, what the hell was that, I just did it again
Oh no, what’s wrong with me, check my head I think I’m going crazy
I just broke a promise to myself

Now that your are neglected,
I can attempt to right the life that I have wronged
But my soul is infected;
Nothing can fill the gap in which you once belonged

It was so hard to,
Break away from you
But so damn easy to get you back into my blood
See I thought it was annihilated,
But it merely faded when it desecrated,
Now it’s reinstated and I’ve become sedated
And lost trust within myself
What have I done?

I said I wouldn’t do it again, what the hell was that, I just did it again
Oh no, what’s wrong with me, check my head I think I’m going crazy
I said I wouldn’t do it again, what the hell was that, I just did it again
Oh no, what’s wrong with me, check my head I think I’m going crazy
I just broke a promise to myself

At first you aided me
Then jaded me
Persuaded me
Evaded me
Downgraded me
And traded me for a worse fate
And now I’m in the dirt
I sin and flirt
I grin and hurt
I spin alert
Begin inserting poison love into my veins

I said I wouldn’t do it again, what the hell was that, I just did it again
Oh no, what’s wrong with me, check my head I think I’m going crazy
I said I wouldn’t do it again, what the hell was that, I just did it again
Oh no, what’s wrong with me, check my head I think I’m going crazy
I just broke a promise to myself
